Cybersecurity
Around the Globe

The Fortinet Cybersecurity Threat Map is a real-time, interactive visualization tool that displays global cyberattack activity. It is primarily used to provide situational awareness and illustrate the relentless nature of modern cyber threats.

The map is powered by FortiGuard Labs, Fortinet's threat intelligence branch, which processes data from over 1 million FortiGate devices and a vast network of honeypots worldwide.

Key Features of the Map

  • Visual Representation: It uses a "missile command" style interface where lines or "darts" arc across a globe from the source of an attack to its target.

  • Real-Time Data: The map streams live telemetry, showing attacks as they are detected by Fortinet's global sensor network.

  • Attack Categorization: Threats are usually categorized into three main types:

    • Malware: Malicious software attempting to infect systems.

    • Botnets: Networks of compromised computers being used for coordinated attacks.

    • Exploits/IPS: Attempts to take advantage of specific software vulnerabilities.

  • Severity Levels: Attacks are often color-coded, with red typically indicating high-severity or critical threats.
